A Native of Chicago, IL, Martin L. Woods is a classically trained yet multifaceted Vocalist who has performed nationally as well as in Europe and in Bermuda. Martin’s professional concert and operatic debuts include performances on the stages of The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, The Atlanta opera, The Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Opera Theater, The Goodman Theater and many other companies throughout the country.
Added to his diverse body of work, Martin has performed at many churches and festivals including The Chicago Gospel Festival. He’s lent background vocals to a wide array of mainstream popular artists including Wynton Marsalis, Beyoncé Knowles, Heather Headley, Michael McDonald, Common, Kim Burrell and Smokie Norful.
Martin holds both the Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA and the Master of Music degree and Professional Diploma in Opera from The Chicago College of Performing Arts (Roosevelt University). His artistic residencies and young artist apprenticeships include the Chicago Opera Theater and the Brevard Music Center. Martin maintains a flourishing career as a performer, song-writer, music educator and vocal coach. He performs concert and operatic works throughout the country, and serves as the Director of Arts and Programming for Christ Universal Church in Chicago, Illinois.
